Ran in the Inaugural ‘The Road to Omaha Run’. It was a nice 5k through Elmwood & Memorial Park. They had to move it due to flooding, but I thought it worked out great. Finished in 24:52, it’s around a 8 minute mile. That’s right at what I’m training, lately.

Looking forward to the next run: The Market To Market Relay.

This is really cool, it’s an interesting read about how they get the CWS logo in the grass.

CWS Grass Logo: How Did They Do It?
The new ballpark seems to be holding up well under the weight of ten games in six days — including rain and severe weather. The grounds crew is also receiving high marks for the center field logo.

Been enjoying the College World Series this year. The TD Ameritrade Park has been a wonder venue for the games. It seems like I’ve got to watch all of the South Carolina Games, which they’ve played well and made it to the Finals. Check out my Facebook page for the photos.

I just signed up for the Road to Omaha 5k Run. Should be a fun run. This year the run will be at Elmwood Park. Deadline for signup is Friday, June 24th.

My wife and I enjoyed the Omaha Community Playhouse’s, Guy and Dolls performance this weekend. The best part was seeing Dan McMahon in the production.

Just updated my HTC EVO to the newer Gingerbread OS (Android 2.3). So far so good, hopefully it is better on the battery life. The UI has been updated and is cleaner to use. The new OS is better at garbage collection, which should give it better power usage.

I’ve really enjoyed baseball at TD Ameritrade Park, with tickets to the Creighton Games and the MVC Tournament. I look forward to watch the Nighthawks play football there also!

TD Ameritrade Park

Watched the Creighton Baseball team beat Missouri State for the Missouri Valley Conference crown. It was a great day to enjoy the new TD Ameritrade Field.

Now the schedule for the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Tournament has been posted. Creighton will first play Bradley in Game 4 at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.

On Saturday, I watched one of the most innovative High School programs I’d ever seen. Mount Michael hosted a robotics tournament where 24 High School teams competed with robots they’d assembled from the Vex Robotics Design. Each team formed an alliance with another team, to compete in a rounds where their robots needed to pick up rings, move the posts, block opponents, and more. It was fun to see smart kids use their talent and have a great time at it.

The work done on the Culver Energy Efficiency World project by David Day won a Nebraska Addy.  The website provides educational materials about energy efficiency and conservation for Teachers, Students and Parents.  As a member on this project, it was a fun project that has a positive impact on others.

I’m glad to see it be recognized, it is a very attractive set of material.  More importantly, the site has been a strong addition to Culver Company’s portfolio of educational material.

Last night I had a great time playing ‘The Game’, a version of the Amazing Race. It’s been done in Omaha by a small group of people, probably years before Amazing Race ever hit the TV Screen. There were a series of clues that we followed around Omaha, trying to be the first to the finish line. Our team was Gerry, Raul, Kim, Christine and I. All of us figuring out clues as we got through the game.

We did really well for not having many Omaha ‘natives’ on the team. Our whole team had a great time. It ended with a barbeque and cake, so I’d say it was a great night.

I spent the weekend in Valentine, Nebraska and tubing down the Niobrara River. Our family got together and had a great time. Here are some pictures from tubing down the river.
